How to Apply

  1. Cleaning a tiled surface before applying DWIL Tub and Tile Paint

    Prepare the Surface

    Remove grease, soap residue, and loose material. Lightly sand smooth surfaces, remove all dust, and make sure the surface is completely dry.

    Start with a clean, dry surface.

  2. Scrubbing tile with DWIL Tile and Ceramic Cleaner

    Deep Clean

    Spread the included Tile & Ceramic Cleaner evenly with a scrub pad or brush. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly, repeat once, then allow the surface to air dry.

    Two cleaning passes are recommended.

  3. Applying DWIL Tub and Tile Paint evenly with a roller

    Mix & Apply

    Add the hardener to the paint and mix thoroughly for at least 1 minute. Apply at least 2 thin, even coats with the roller or brush.

    Allow at least 2 hours between coats; use mixed paint within 12 hours.

  4. Refinished white tile surface drying and curing

    Dry & Cure

    Carefully remove masking tape after at least 45 minutes. Keep the coated surface dry and avoid scratching or rubbing while it cures.

    Keep dry for 48 hours; allow about 7 days for full hardness.

1. Who should choose the kit with Ceramic Cleaner?

Choose this prep-and-paint kit when your tub, tile, sink, or other hard surface has soap film, grease, body oils, hard-water residue, or everyday buildup. It combines the refinishing coating, dedicated cleaner, application tools, and masking supplies in one project-oriented kit.

The cleaner supports better surface preparation; it does not replace damage repair or sanding.

2. What does the Ceramic Cleaner do?

The Ceramic Cleaner helps remove surface contaminants that can interfere with coating adhesion. It is designed to lift soap scum, body oils, hard-water residue, grime, and similar buildup before refinishing.

It is not a paint stripper or repair product. Remove silicone caulk mechanically, and repair or remove loose paint, cracks, rust, damaged grout, or failed coatings before painting.

3. Does using the Ceramic Cleaner mean I can skip sanding?

No. Cleaning and sanding do two different jobs. The cleaner removes contamination; light sanding reduces surface gloss and creates a more paint-ready surface.

For glazed tile, porcelain, glass, and slick tub finishes, complete both steps unless the instructions included with your current kit state otherwise.

4. Can I paint immediately after cleaning?

Only after the cleaner has been thoroughly rinsed or wiped away and the surface is completely dry. Cleaner residue or trapped moisture can reduce adhesion and contribute to fisheyes, bubbling, or peeling.

After cleaning and drying, sand as directed, remove sanding dust, complete masking, and then begin mixing and painting.

5. How much area does this kit cover?

The 32 oz coating covers approximately 50–60 sq. ft. with the recommended application. The included Ceramic Cleaner covers approximately 100–200 sq. ft. when used as directed.

Depending on your project size and surface condition, one kit may be suitable for:

  • 1 standard bathtub
  • 1 bathtub with a small surrounding area
  • 1 small shower area
  • 1–2 bathroom sinks

Coverage can vary with surface texture, original color, condition, and the number of coats needed. If you are covering a dark surface, a large surround, or multiple areas, measure first and consider ordering additional coating.

6. How long before I can use my tub or shower?

Allow a full 7 days before normal tub or shower use.

  • Keep dry: Keep the finished surface dry for at least 48 hours after painting.
  • Full cure: Wait a full 7 days before normal use so the coating can develop its intended hardness.
  • During curing: Do not expose the surface to water, scrubbing, scratching, heavy cleaning, or suction-cup bath mats.

Dry to the touch does not mean ready for water exposure. Cooler temperatures or higher humidity may extend drying and curing time; follow the instructions included within your kit.
