Stir thoroughly, test a small area, then brush or roll thin, even coats. Two coats are generally recommended. Clean tools promptly with soap and warm water.
16 oz reference: The manual lists approximately 25–30 sq. ft. per coat. At two coats, that corresponds to roughly 12.5–15 sq. ft. of finished surface before allowing for texture, application method and losses. The current manual does not list a separate 32 oz coverage figure; confirm the selected size for larger projects.
Measure the painted area: A solid 3 ft × 4 ft gate is 12 sq. ft. per face, or 24 sq. ft. for both faces before edges. For railings and openwork, measure the actual bars and rails, including their sides, rather than treating the overall opening as one flat panel.
