Help Choosing the Right Product

Use this finishing wax to enhance the feel and appearance of suitable furniture, including chalk-style painted pieces, unfinished wood and stained wood.

A waxed furniture finish has different maintenance needs from a hard clear coating. For heavy wear, frequent water exposure or heat, confirm the finishing system is suitable before choosing wax. Do not assume every painted piece needs it.

Wax can deepen the appearance of the underlying finish. Buffing changes the sheen, from a softer matte look toward a more polished finish.

Test on a small hidden area of your actual painted or stained piece. Let the sample dry and compare it in your normal lighting before waxing the whole surface.

The kit contains 3.5 oz of finishing wax with application tools. Apply sparingly in a thin layer rather than building a thick coating.

Surface texture, absorption and the number of layers affect usage. Measure the areas you want to finish and ask us about your project if you need help estimating quantity for a large piece or several items.

Start with a clean, dry, compatible surface. Any paint or stain beneath the wax must be ready for finishing according to its instructions.

Spread a thin layer evenly and wipe off excess with a clean cloth. Buff to the desired appearance; an additional layer can be used as directed. Allow 24 hours of drying before normal use, following the product instructions and application conditions.

After drying, clean with mild soapy water and a soft, damp cloth. Reapply wax as needed to maintain the finish rather than treating it as a permanent, maintenance-free coating.

Before repainting or changing to a different finish, remove the wax as required by the new coating system and check adhesion on a prepared test area. Wax left on the surface can interfere with the next coating.
